[06 May 2009|11:55am]
I'm wathcing Two Towers right now, just cause I havent in a long time. And while watching, I swear I got a little teary-eyed. Not from the story you see, but because of one charachter. It scared me how much Theoden, King of Rohan, before he is freed by Gandalf, reminds me of how my Dad looked in his hospital bed a year ago. Unshaven, unable to speak, glassy far-away exspression, and sad... And how Dad is now, is like Theoden after Gandalf helped: A warrior, strong and powerful almost like nothing ever happened.

To anyone who says miracles aren't real and fantasy is purely the work of the imagination: You are wrong.

I miss random LJ-ness... [07 Apr 2009|07:55am]
I heard a question on Jeopardy(or answer rather... I don't want to lose points) that just made me o_O at my tv...

Apperantly, Dr. Ruth Westhiemer was once a sniper in the Israeli Army. A fuckin' SNIPER!! That makes her so much cooler now!!

Sunrise... Sunset... How quickly flow the years... [26 Mar 2009|09:51am]
Wow, long time no see LJ... I've been poor and computer/internet-less for the last couple years, but right before Christmas I got high speed internet hooked up in my apartment. Still no computer though... I'm on-line using my PS3, so typing with a joystick is a bitch. So I'm not going to be making alot of posts, I'll most just comment occasionally on the few moments I'm on here at all. But for now, here is a brief rundown of what's happening wth me:

Most importantly, Dad is doing SO MUCH BETTER. He is probably 99% back to normal, if he could ever have been considered "normal" to begin with(I'm a bad influence on him). After the five small strokes he had while in the hospital last year(almost exactly, he was taken to the Emergency room that first night on 3-15. "Beware the Ides of March") he still has a little trouble with his math skills, and sometimes doesn't think to mention details that would have been compulsory for him before. But other than that he is great and we couldn't be happier, he is driving again and back to work at Intel full-time. I know I've said it before, but it bears repeating: thank you so much to everyone who visited him(Bobbie Jo especially, it meant alot to both of us. The first time you stopped by and he said your name, wow, I dont even think he'd said MY name by that point, I know he said "Derf's" name before mine, which made Fred feel really good.) and to everyone who signed his Carring Bridge site, Amber especially this time. You signed it at least twice that I know of and got your whole church praying for him, I know it helped, and I am eternally grateful for it. For Christmas this year my awesome brother, who found and started the Carring Bridge site, found another site that let him take everything from the Carring Bridge(the bio, the pictures, the journal entries, and the hundreds of comments) and turned it all into a hard-cover book that Dad can keep. When he opened it Dad was speechless and Ma cried for a solid half-hour. Dad spent the rest of the night reading every coment, from cover-to-cover. Thank you all again.

In late November I FINALLY got out of the chicken plant and got a job at a glass factory in Kalama, Cameron Family Glass, making wine bottles. It's awesome! I make twice what I did at Foster(hence the high speed internet), the benefits are better, everyone(even those not born in America) speaks fluent English, and management actually appreciates and THANKS YOU for a job well done. Hell, I'm even on a first-name basis with the owner of the company AND his dog!(a Sheepdog that has his own hardhat and safety vest to allow him total access to the plant, lol) The only bad news is that a little after Christmas the glass melter(the world's largest eco-friendly electric melter BTW) had a breach and we had to shut down. It's not too bad though, the owner kept all our medical going while we were out of work and even let us come in two or three days a week to clean and do odd-jobs. Which helps me alot, my unemployment goes off Foster, so two 12hr days at $16/hr is more than I'd get from unemployment anyway. Tomorrow we actully have a meeting to see how the repairs are progressing and when we get to go back to work full-time, which should be next week some time, last I heard.

Well, that's about it, hopefully I'll see ya'll around, later!

Just a quick note: Dad is doing FAR better! He is talking really well, long sentances and enunciating very well. He stood up, a little wobly, but he took a shower. He is checking his e-mail and all the post on the CaringBridge site(thank you to all who signed it, he has over 400 comments).

As I was leaving his room I said, "I'm glad you're improved. Soon you'll be up and about like normal. Better even, you'll be stronger, faster..." And he said "We can rebuild you..." I lauged and said, "I love ya Dad, you're the only person who can out-geek me!" And he smiled.

I am so happy I could shit. I love ya all!! Thanks to everyone who sent thoughts and good vibes, they were immensely helpful!!

Seems like the only news is bad news... [20 Mar 2008|03:27pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]

This is the second post I've made in the last year.

The first was about my car accident: I got a ticket. Totaled my car. Bumped my insurance up $50 a month. And I had to get a new car I don't enjoy as much, but which puts me in further debt for the next 5 years.

I really wish that were the better of the two.

Praise be to EB [02 Jan 2007|05:39pm]
Quick holiday update, or as quick as I can be anyway.

Stuff from Bob:

A cool triangle-bladded knife.
Professor Snape's wand!
Love Actually
EB gift card.
Robot Chicken, Season 1
The new Penny Arcade book.
A stocking with a SHITLOAD of stuff, including lots o' candy, Icy Hot, and the book Bridge To Terabithia, as well as a bunch of assorted little things.

Stuff from Parents:
EB gift card.
Cool car battery jump starter.
A SET OF TEA. I emphasize this, because when I told Fred about it, I mistakenly used the wording "tea set", to which I recieved no end of ridicule about. But what is actually is, is a really nice wooden box full of 120 packets of assorted teas. And they are yummy.

EB gift card.

Now, you may have noticed the gift card theme, which is not supriosing, because I asked EVERYONE for them. I just didn't expect how generous people would be:

Shasta: $10
Jenny: $10
Robin: $20
Fred: $30
Mom/Dad: $100
Bobbie: $100

And so with that I went to EB this weekend and got my PS3!! HUZZAH! I bought the system and a game and all I paid was $334. Not a bad deal. Thank you everyone who contributed to the fund!! Now I must go play!

A Christmas Survey [25 Dec 2006|03:24am]
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? All presents under the tree are wrapped, un-fortunately... It's way prettier, but I DESPISE wrapping...

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Whatever, either is fine for me.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? We have some(fake) sprigs of it above our front door halway that we leave up all year.

5. When do you put your decorations up? We actually DIDN'T this year... too lazy.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Ham.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Getting my own television.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Truth? What truth...?

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Not usually, unless I'm not going to see the giver on Christmas Day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Lights, ornaments, and some old AM/PM cheeseburger wrappers I forged in to candycane shapes when I was 6.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Still love it, though now I'm not fond of driving in it.

12. Can you ice skate? Never tried, too afraid. I fall on roller skates, and ice skates are sharp. I'd end up cutting my leg off I know.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? The afore mentioned TV

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Getting through it succesfully with everyone being happy.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I dunno, pumpkin pie maybe.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Opeing gifts using a pocket knife my dad gave me on Christmas day when I was around 10. I've used that knife on Christmas every year since.

17. What tops your tree? Cheesy looking gold star.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? White Christmas

20. Candy Canes? I like them in moderation, but peppermint isn't one of my favorites.

21. What is your favorite Christmas movie? White Christmas

A friend at work has a daughter that is having trouble in English. She was given an assignment to re-write the famous balcony scene from Romeo & Juliet, but it had to be in a modern setting with modern dialog. She was panicing cause she could not understand any Shakespeare, but the project sounded fun to me, so I told her I'd help. Helping evolved into me basically doing the whole thing. lol. I just finished, and thought I'd share.

So I went Christmas shopping on Sunday and spent WAY too much(and I have more shopping to do...), but the place I spent the most money was at Build-A-Bear Workshop. I made two things(not bears actually, a kitty and a monkey) for my sister's twins, Nia and Gabe, it cost me almost $70!! But I guess that happens when you buy the animal, put voice boxes in them, and then dress them up all fancy... but still, they are über cute and totally worth it. :-)

[23 Nov 2006|08:46pm]
After I finished cleaning about 20 minutes ago, I figured I would run downtown and get a soda, but since Tracie wasn't here yet I was asked to drive by her place to see if she was home.

When I did, I noticed her van was gone, but the lights of her house were on. So on the way home I decided I'd actually stop there to make sure. She was not, (she was actually at my house by that time) but TIM was there. For those that don't remember, tim is her abusive ex-boyfriend that she has left FOUR TIMES and swore to us each time that she would never go back to him. When he opened the door I didn't recognise him at first, I thought it was one of her friends, so i just said "Sup?" as he walked to the door. When I saw him clearly I just turned and walked away, got into my car, slammed the door and litterally sped away, screeching my tires for half a block. He stayed at the front door watching me haul ass down the street.

So... should I A) let my parents know, and start a huge mess while my grandparents are here, most likely leading to Tracie getting pissed and leaving again so that we can't see the babies, or B) say nothing, which will make my sister think I approve....?

I don't know what to do about her...

I wasn't aware "bitch" qualified as a contagious disease... [03 Nov 2006|04:23pm]
It was said, semi-officially, to people at work today that my boss will be looking for another job. This wording sent a twinge of fear through me... what if I get the USDA job, and somehow she is working there too?!

But then later I figured out that that wouldn't happen.

Apperantly when you get herpes you're not allowed to work in any type of food-handling service again.

DING DONG THE BITCH IS DEAD! [01 Nov 2006|05:30pm]
I have heard through the grapevine that my evil, man-hating, super-bitch of a boss is is no longer an employee of Foster Farms! I don't have any details, all I know is that she is NOT coming back, and it is NOT her choice! YAY!

In other news:

Halloween was fun. I went out with my lead Cindy, her daughter(my friend Robin) and Cindy's grandkids. I like going trick-or-treating with little kids, a futile attempt to maintain my youth I suppose. I went as The Ultimate Geek: Spider-Man mask, Batman t-shirt, Superman cape and Green Lantern ring. I didn't have any Batman attire, so I had to go to Target and buy a $9 XL children's size t-shirt. It fits REALLY well actually. Next year I want to go as "fool for love" Spike, and if any of you don't know that episode of Buffy, he looks like this in it:

with the addition of my black leather trench coat, which he obtains right after killing the 70's slayer.

Saw III. I haven't seen it yet(Fred is a little mad at me cause I'm not seeing it with him right now, but Ma is deathly ill and I promised to make dinner tonight), but I heard from a friend that it is really graphic. She works at the theater, and said halfway through one showing a kid came running out CRYING HIS EYES OUT, closely followed by his friends. When she asked the friend if they needed a refund he said no, that the boy just got really freaked out. Apperantly the kid's dad had had an accident and died the same way as the person in the movie... creepy-sad...

And last but not least, *drumroll*... IT HAS RETURNED!!

Holiday goodness [23 Oct 2006|05:33pm]
I am so awesome. It's not even Halloween yet and I'm getting Christmas shopping done. I have something for a friend at work, one gift for Katie, one gift ordered for Fred, and several for Bobbie. The shopping season may go pretty smoothly this year.

I told everyone at work(cause I don't know who will draw my name in the gift exchange) that if they get me anything, but don't know what exactly, I'll make it easy: Gift card to EB Games. So I will do my usual holiday whoring(*AHEM*AmazonWishList*COUGH*) but I also add that if none of that is worthy of me, or just do expensive, I except EB gifts cards of all deneominations. I just really want my PS3.

Randomness... [20 Oct 2006|09:31pm]
Neccessity is the mother of invention? Maybe for other people. For me, it's laziness. I've discovered that when I make Mac N' Cheese(one of my four basic food groups), rather than cutting up a keilbasa and putting in it, it is far easier to simply dump a whole package of Lil' Smokey's in there. WAY better.

Fuckin' people keep trying to give me money! It's starting to piss me off! I have 1½ credit cards. A $1000 limit Visa, and a $500 limit Target card. People keep sending me "Gold Card This" and "Platinum Card That".... I don't want it! I think what I already have is gonna get me in trouble some day, so I throw all those credit card things away. But then yesterday i get a letter from Target saying they are AUTOMATICALLY up-grading my card to a Target-Visa, with a $1000 limit that I can use ANYWHERE!! Just in time for me to use it and go completely in debt for Christmas....

[18 Oct 2006|04:42pm]
Ok, for everyone who has tried to talk to me on AIM the last day or so, here is the deal:

There is some problem with our AOL service, and when I tried to sign on yesterday, the day before, whatever, it said there was an error and that we had to sign on to the master screen name. I didn't know what the problem was, but I did know that I would probably fuck it up worse if I tried to fix it, so I just left it and did nothing. But APPERANTLY it was reading me as on-line, although I was still at the sign-on screen. Weeeeiiiirrrrddddd.... So anyway, I just fixed it kinda and I got a BAZILLION IMs at once. So I'm here to say that I am not dead, I am not mad at anyone, and I was not staying up till 3 am on work night. lol.

I now return you to your regulayly scheduled LJ.
